How to plant walnut saplings & Mistakes Made

The starting point of walnut farming is the preparation of seedlings and the planting of the seedlings. The fact that the supplied walnut seedlings are not properly planted causes the seedlings to dry out and is a disappointment for both our farmers and investors.
 1. Field Processing;
The garden that will be planted is be plowed in a deep manner and then raked.
 In particular, previously untreated fields should be plowed deeply so that winter rains can be collected. It is important for the water need of  the nursery during spring.
 Drainage and leveling operations are required in the fields where it is considered necessary. The lack of field preparation is the most common shortcomings in walnut farming.
2. Determination of the Locations of Sapling Pits;
The distance between the seedling pits should be determined by tape measure and it should be ensured that they are on the same line by using rope. The randomly opening of sapling pits and the sapling pits that are not on the same line are some of the known shortcomings.
3. The Opening of the Sapling Pit;
The dimentions of the seedling pits to be opened for walnut sapling planting should be 50 cm wide and 100 cm deep. This is for moderate hard soil where the roots can easily advance.
If there is a high degree of hardness in your soil, the pits should be opened up to 150 cm by the working machines.
The deep opened pits in hard soil, affects the seedling development negatively.
Sapling pits should be opened 2-3 months before planting, so that the soil should meet the oxygen and the sun and also the beneficial bacteria life in the pit should be strengthened.

4. Fertilization of Sapling Pits;
In planting (1) scale surface land soil,  (1) scale river sand and (1) scale old cattle pest or solid organic fertilizer mixture should be used.
The animal pest should be at least two years old sheep - cattle pest.
According to the results of the soil analysis,  it is possible to use compound fertilizer between 300-500 gr in seedling planting. The fertilizer should be placed at the bottom of the seedlings pit but not touched by the roots.
 We know that using of unburned (new) animal, goat and poultry fertilizer causes the death of the seedlingsbecause of the acid density.
5. Place of graft ;
Fort he groving of the grafted area, graft should be 8-10 cm above the soil and faced to south.
After the sapling plantentation We have observed  that in some of the our gardens  the grafted area is under the ground or covered with soil.
6. Support bar ;
In order to prevent the saplings from being affected by the winds and also its roots from being moved, support bars are needed. The support bar should be about 1.5 meters long..
 It should be planted about 10 cm from the seedlings and it should be connected with a piece of cloth that will not cut the seedlings.
The too far located support bar causes the plant to stretch and break from the grafted area.
